The Importance of Identification Tags and Microchipping
In the last few weeks I have received several emails about lost pets. They all got out of their homes
in one way or another - the gardener left the gate open, they flew out the door when a visitor came, they pulled out of a
collar that was too loose, they were left with a friend who was not paying close enough attention. In all cases, these
dogs were not wearing identification tags nor were they microchipped making it harder to get them back to their owners.
Some of these dogs were found after weeks of putting out flyers and searching the shelters. Some were never found leaving
the owner never to know what happened.
Please keep identification
tags on your pets at all times. If you bathe your pet at home, put the tags on immediately after drying, never allow
your pet to be without the tag because he or she is always in the house. You never know what might cause a pet to scoot
out the door. Please be safe rather than sorry. There is no price tag that can be put on your beloved pet, but
an id tag is less than $10.
Have fun and stay safe!
